What You’ll Learn
In the first 10 lessons, you’ll cover the basics: saying hello, asking for or giving information, scheduling a meal or a meeting, asking for or giving basic directions, and much more. You’ll be able to handle minimum courtesy requirements, understand much of what you hear, and be understood at a beginning level, but with near-native pronunciation skills.
In the next 10 lessons, you’ll build on what you’ve learned. Expand your menu, increase your scheduling abilities from general to specific, start to deal with currency and exchanging money, refine your conversations and add over a hundred new vocabulary items. You’ll understand more of what you hear, and be able to participate with speech that is smoother and more confident.
In the final 10 lessons, you’ll be speaking and understanding at an intermediate level. In this phase, more directions are given in the target language, which moves your learning to a whole new plane. Lessons include shopping, visiting friends, going to a restaurant, plans for the evening, car trips, and talking about family. You’ll be able to speak comfortably about things that happened in the past and make plans for the future.
Reading Lessons begin in Lesson 10 to provide you with an introduction to reading German. In addition, the combined Reading Lessons are included after Lesson 30. These Reading Lessons, which total about one hour, are designed to teach you to sound out words with correct pronunciation and accent.

طبیعت بی نهایت پیچیده است و غالباً این پیچیدگی بصورتی است که ما نسبت به آن بطور وحشتناکی جاهل مانده ایم . درنتیجه هنگامی که آگاهانه، یا ندانسته وتصادفی، تغییرات عمده ای درطبیعت به وجود می آوریم مکانیسم های هومواستاتیک فوق العاده پیچیده را به صورتی دگرگون می سازیم که خود قادر به پیش بینی عواقب آن نیستیم. به همین دلیل است که گاه چیزهای عجیب و غریبی اتفاق می افتد (Kennethe F.Watt).
مقدمه
ارزیابی مسأله آفات در مقیاس جهانی نشان می دهد که اگر حشرات آفات وجود نداشتند، تولید مواد غذایی جهان تا حدودی یک سوم بیشتر از میزان موجود افزایش می یافت. با توجه به این همه خسارت، واضح است چنانچه کوششی برای دفع حشرات آفت انجام نمی گرفت ویا این مبارزه ها به نتیجه ای نمی رسید، نوع بشر با چه بلیه ای مواجه می شد. بدیهی است که هر حشره به تنهایی مقدار نسبتاً کمی غذا احتیاج دارد، مثلاً تصور نمی رود که یک رشته در تمام عمرش بیشتر از نیم سانتی متر مکعب شیره گیاهی تغذیه می کند. حتی یک کرمینه پرهور پروانه هم بیشتر از 50 گرم از وزن تر گیاه میزبان خود را مصرف نمی کند.
بنابراین باید تعداد بسیار زیادی حشره وجود داشته باشد تا باعث این همه خسارت شود که در واقع همین طور هم هست و تعداد حشرات واقعاً فوق العاده زیاد است. در مقایسه با تراکم جمعیت انسانی یعنی 14/0 نفر در هکتار، ممکن است 25 میلیون حشره در هر هکتار خاک و 25 هزار حشره در حال پرواز روی هر هکتار موجود باشد. مسلم است که همه آنها در حال از بین بردن محصولات غذایی بشر نیستند، ولی تعداد جمعیت یک گونه آفت به تنهایی در یک هکتار محصول اغلب قابل قیاس با ارقام ذکر شده است. مثالً ممکن است در یک هکتار جو 22 میلیون لار و مگس وجود داشته باشد و نیز 222 میلیون شته سیاه باقلا در یک هکتار چغندر گزارش شود، هر دوی این ارقام آلودگی، نشان دهنده سرعت ازدیاد حشرات مهاجر اولیه است که به گیاهان یک ساله حمله می کنند و در واقع غالب گونه های حشرات که مشکل ایجاد می کنند قدرت تکثیر خارق العاده ای دارند. این قدرت تکثیر وقتی به صورت ارقام و آماربیان شود، ذکرشان در داستان های تخیلی علمی بی مورد نخواهد بود.
در بین یک میلیون گونه حشره شناخته شده حدود ده هزار گونه گیاهخوار هستند و به این ترتیب زیان های ناشی از آنها به تاراج و نابودی محصولات زراعی در سراسر جهان منتهی می شود. باید گفت که یک سوم محصولات غذایی جهان در مراحل رشد، برداشت و انبار به وسیله آفت های مختلف به تاراج می رود. در بعضی از کشورها میزان خسارت از این رقم زیاد تر است. باید توجه داشت که به رقم تمام موارد فوق تمام گونه های حشرات آفت مضر نیستند. اکثر گونه های حشرات برای انسان مفید هستند و نقش آنها مخصوصاً گونه های انگل و شکارچی در نابودی حشرات آفت بسیار مؤثر است. به علاوه نقش حشرات گرده افشان در گرده افشانی صدها گیاه بویژه یونجه، توتون، گوجه فرنگی، آفتابگردان و درختان میوه و غیره در افزایش محصولات کشاورزی بسیار با ارزش است.
آنچه مسلم است ذخیره فعلی غذا در سطح جهان کافی نیست. در حال حاضر حدود 56 درصد از جمعیت جهان در فقر غذایی به سر می برند. در کشورهای توسعه نیافته وضعیت وخیم تر است به طوری که تخمین زده می شود 79 درصد از جمعیت آنها در فقر غذایی هستند. آنچنان که از گزارش ها پیداست، برآورده شده است که سالیانه 15 میلیون انسان بر اثر سوء تغذیه و امراض وابسته به سوء تغذیه در دنیا از بین می روند و این در حالی است که میزان معتنابهی از تولید سالیانه غلات توسط آفت ها و بیماری های گیاهی و پوسیدگی هدر می رود.
